The recently concluded Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2024 (KLIMS 2024), which ran from December 5 to 11 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), saw 183,221 visitors attending the event across the seven day period.

The show’s 10th edition explored the theme “Beyond Mobility,” bringing sustainability and electrification to the forefront of innovation. More than 70 leading automotive and mobility brands took part, with brands such as Toyota, Perodua, Proton, Honda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Mazda, Kia, Great Wall Motor (GWM), MG Motor, XPeng, Aion, Peugeot, Leapmotor, Modenas, Kawasaki, Royal Enfield and Harley-Davidson present at the event.

Aside from new vehicle models, the show also saw an array of concept cars and prototypes going on display, with Toyota presenting innovations like the FT-3e, Land Cruiser SE, Hilux FCEV and the Kayoibako, while Nissan had the futuristic Hyper Tourer on show.

Over at Honda, there was the sleek Prelude Concept taking centre stage, alongside the compact and foldable Motocompacto electric scooter and the brand’s groundbreaking eVTOL flying car concept. Representing local ingenuity, Perodua showcased the eMO-II, its EV concept car as well as an Ativa Fuze concept.

KLIMS 2024 also delighted visitors with exciting prizes, including a Toyota Yaris 1.5G Limited and a Perodua Axia X, which were the top prizes. The Yaris was won by Mohd Azzarain Abdul Aziz, while Leaw Xiu Qi took home the Axia.

Exhibitors were celebrated for their creativity and design excellence, with the prestigious Best Booth Design Awards recognising winners across multiple categories. The Best Booth Design Awards were evaluated based on criteria including visual appeal with eye-catching graphics and clear brand representation in line with the “Beyond Mobility” theme.

They were also judged on efficient space utilisation encouraging visitor interaction, functionality to support product demonstrations and presentations, and interactivity through engaging elements like VR experiences, touch screens, and hands-on displays.

In the OEM category (400 sq. metres and above), UMW Toyota Motor claimed first place, with the Proton and Perodua displays claiming second and third place in that category. Meanwhile, Stellantis Malaysia bagged the top prize in the OEM category (399 sq. metres and below), while in the Non-OEM category, PECCA Leather took the top spot, with Wedrink Enterprise Management (Malaysia) securing second place and Didi Group taking third place.

“KLIMS 2024 stands as a testament to Malaysia’s expanding influence in the global mobility landscape. From cutting-edge automotive technologies to visionary prototypes, KLIMS 2024 exemplified Malaysia’s commitment to shaping the future of transportation. This milestone reaffirms our position as a key player in the global mobility ecosystem, inspiring collaboration and innovation across industries,” said Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) president Mohd Shamsor Mohd Zain.
